Stay entertained on your commute with these phone games

If you like to spend your commute staring at the small screen, there are plenty of games to keep you entertained.

You don’t have to be a dedicated gamer to while away the time playing on your phone going to and from work on public transport. Here are five of the most popular from Google Play and the App Store.

Monument Valley 2

Guide a mother and her child as they embark on a journey through magical architecture, discovering illusionary pathways and delightful puzzles as you learn the secrets of the Sacred Geometry. Features creatively challenging puzzles and fabulous imagery.

This puzzle game is a great challenge. Each tile has an even number written on it, and your goal is to add up to the number 2048 by joining adjacent tiles together. You can choose from different board sizes — from 4×4 (the smallest) to 8×8 (the biggest), which makes it more challenging.

Super Mario Run

A version of Super Mario designed for the small screen. If you grew up in the nineties playing Super Mario, this is the game for you.

Design Home

Perfect if you’re planning a renovation or interior design project. You enter design competitions and have a budget to ‘dress’ an empty room — and if you win a competition, you get extra money in your budget to use toward future competitions.

1010! Puzzle

The game is comprised of a 10×10 grid with Tetris-like blocks in various shapes. The idea is to fill out a complete row or column of 10 blocks. Each time you fill a row or column, it clears out and you get points. The only thing is, you never know when they’re going to slam you with huge 3×3 squares or long 5×1 pieces. There’s no clock or pacing, so it’s really all about strategy and trying to beat your highest score without hitting gridlock.
