New restaurants put porridge front and centre

New Bondi restaurant will serve bowls of goodness to nourish your body and soul.

Nothing says cozy like a warm bowl of porridge at the start of the day. Whether it was topped with berries and honey, nuts and syrup, or a pinch of cinnamon, porridge is a humble homey staple during the winter months.

Where you will always find porridge on your local café’s menu, there are not many places that focus solely on fresh, produce-driven porridges and soups as a healthy, fast and nutritious meal.

Siblings and entrepreneurs Chris and Candice Miller have teamed up with their family friend Phil Ujdur and father, to make the dream of a wholesome, nutritional, and homely meal outlet a reality. Recently opening in the Pacific Bondi Beach development, Mr Perkins is a fresh, fast, and fab restaurant focusing on easy, everyday eating for their patrons.

The family owned and operated establishment embraces a number of cultures and regions with their recipes for nourishing, seasonal range of soups and porridges that offer huge flavor and even holistic properties.

Their seasonal menu won’t rely on porridge and soup as the homely winter warmer. Summer dishes will see gazpacho and other chilled soup options, plus a range of savoury and sweet options from your classic oats to granola and quinoa, adorning the menu. Mr Perkins’ focus on quality ingredients translates to coffee as well. They brew Melbourne roasted Seven Seeds coffee beans, known for its freshness, consistency, and full bodied smooth flavours.

Living by the value that “you are what you eat,” those at Mr Perkins simply produce delicious, homely, soulful food to help nourish your body on the go.
