Roustabouts RV Club

This new caravan club has been established for caravan lovers in south-east Queensland.

The Roustabouts RV Club Inc. was established in 2016 by a group of like-minded people who had been caravanning together for a number of years and decided to share the enjoyment and the spirit of caravanning with others.

The club is for owners of caravans, motor homes, camper trailers, 5th wheelers and camper vans who live within the Tweed Coast, Gold Coast, Greater Brisbane region, Sunshine Coast, Cooloola Coast and areas west to Toowoomba.

Membership has grown dramatically and now exceeds 130 members. They own 70 rigs and comprise a diverse range of age-groups, vocations and interests.

The club actively promotes the use of caravans, recreational vehicles and the RV lifestyle. This includes promoting unity, respect and good fellowship among members and providing social activities, weekend musters, Long Paddock drives and other events.

Members pay a modest joining fee of $5 and an annual membership fee of $10. The club follows a user-pays philosophy, so when you attend a muster you are asked to pay a ‘Rig Fee’ of $5 for weekend musters and Mystery Tagalongs.

For the Long Paddock Drives a ‘Rig Fee’ of $1 per day of the full itinerary is payable (e.g. a 65 day trip is a $65 rig fee). These Rig Fees are reviewed annually and voted on by the membership at the annual general meeting. Rig Fees are not imposed on events not involving rig towing.

The Club’s motto of “On the country; In the country; For the country” was paramount in the Club’s recent Long Paddock Drive in August. Members drove the south-west Queensland Opal and Dinosaur Trail, visiting Eromanga, Thargomindah, Quilpie, Yowah and Charleville. There were 24 caravans on this three week trip and members contributed over $70,000 to the local communities.
