Fantastic family-friendly caravan parks

Holiday parks are becoming more family-friendly, with caravanning a popular choice for family holidays.

Travelling with kids can sometimes restrict your options, given they need activities to burn energy and avoid boredom. Strolling around historical museums and heritage sites might be enjoyable for adults, but kids require a different form of entertainment.

If you’re planning a caravan or camping holiday, here are some family-friendly holiday parks with plenty of options for the kids.

Bargara Beach Caravan Park

Bargara Beach is a wonderful place to visit. From here you can take a day trip to nearby Lady Elliot Island and Lady Musgrave Island, and visit Mon Repos Turtle Centre — the largest Loggerhead Turtle nesting site on the east coast. The park has all the key amenities and is close to the surf club. You can even bring dogs as well as the kids.

Golden Beach Holiday Park, Caloundra

Golden Beach offers special oversize sites for caravans and RVs longer that are longer than eight metres. With just a 100m walk to the beach and a saltwater pool on-site, this is a great choice for families. It is also pet-friendly.

Lake Somerset Holiday Park

Lake Somerset Holiday Park is a hot spot for families who love a caravan holiday. With the dam at your doorstep, quality amenities and all sorts of watersports, there’s never a shortage of things to do. It’s like camping in the bush but with a water view

Situated on a grassy peninsula, the kids have lots of choices including a playground, basketball courts and a sporting oval. While they run wild, parents can relax, kayak or cast a line at the lake’s premier fishing spots.

Congo Campground Narooma

Located in the Eurobodalla National Park, this is a great place for swimming and fishing, with a choice of two beaches and river. When they’re not in the water, kids can make the most of the open space for playing, exploring and riding bikes. Moruya is nearby for picking up supplies.

Marengo Holiday Park, Victoria

This park is located right on the waterfront at Apollo Bay. There are large sites available to accommodate RVs and it is pet-friendly too. It’s a great place to break up a journey along the Great Ocean Road. The nearby beaches are good for swimming, snorkelling, fishing and even horse riding.
